We hit two separate issues while migrating this server to rsync + Turbo Deployments:
Turbo transfer loses files whose name contains "$"
(full deploy, ~106,000 files, 506 MB tar): the tar was built, uploaded and extracted, then the manifest check failed with: "Missing 1 files from deployment tar: node_modules/mongoose/lib/helpers/query/cast$expr.js" The file exists in the build (it's shipped by mongoose; note the "$" in the filename β it looks like it's being shell-interpolated somewhere in the tar/manifest pipeline). The declared fallback ("Falling back to individual file transfer") did not actually run β no further log lines, and no files arrived on the server. For comparison, the same file transfers fine via a normal incremental rsync deploy.
Full deploy with accelerated transfer disabled fails silently and the deployment hangs (full deploy, use_accelerated_transfer: false): the "Transferring changed files" step (106,311 items) failed ~3 minutes after it started, with no error detail available (the step exposes logs: false via the API). Nothing was transferred to the server (verified server-side: no new files, no rsync process). The deployment then remained in status "running" with all subsequent steps "pending" until we aborted it manually ~25 minutes later. Incremental rsync deploys work fine on this server. We have turned use_accelerated_transfer off as a workaround.
